On a slow day for the apothecary, Sally drops by Hawkeye's clinic with a box of the usual supplies she gives him for work--- but also with a letter in an envelope.
"Hawk! Is the doctor in?" He's gonna have to open the door for her--- even with Gwen at home with Arthur, she's still got too much shit in her hands to try and open it herself, or risk getting a leg involved and potentially dropping glass bottles.
"I can check in the back for you but I think he chewed his way through the back door," Hawk offers, opening the door and immediately making himself useful, trying to take some of the things off her hands.
"How've you been, Sal? That letter for me or are we going to hold it up to the window and snoop on it?"
"Oh thank you--- I'm good, though! Been busy. Gwen's birthday is this month and Arthur's taken up an odd job that's made things a bit hectic." She expertly dodges the fact that the job in question is as a debt collector of the old fashioned variety for the demon Claunthe, which he's doing to pay off their early departure from the Stag Beetle.
"And yes! This is, in fact, for you." Once her hands are free, Sally presents the envelope to him. Plain and beige with his name in curly font on one side and a wax seal embedded with the tiiiiniest little wildflower, it's apparently a formal invitation.
Hawk sets about putting the various medicines down in their drawers to free up his hands, then takes the letter and breaks the was seal with his manicured thumbnail. He glances his eyes over it, and then beams.
"I got into Harvard!" he jokes, throwing both arms up in joy, then reaches his arms out for a hug.
"I'll be there with bells on. I'll even get a tux for the occasion. Is there a registry?"
Sally laughs and hugs him. "No, we don't need one. But you missed the extra thing! There should be a little extra paper in there---"
Once she breaks from the hug, she flips the card for him, pointing out the extra bit of paper clinging to the back.
In a round and cheerful handwriting, surrounded by little drawings of wildflowers that Sally clearly did herself, he will find the words, "Will you be my bridesman?"
